A single dollar might not seem like much. But in a life of child without a family, that same dollar can be something entirely different - a warm meal, a bottle of water, a safe place to sleep, a schoolbook, a toy which brings a moment of joy they haven't felt in a long while.

Let me tell you about Ama;

Ama is a little girl who lost both of her parents at only 4 years old. She ended up in crowded shelter where food and basic needs was insufficient for the orphans. One day, someone just like you donated a single dollar-not a large sum, not a grand gesture, others might say. That one small act of kindness was part of a larger pool that funded food, schooling and her basic needs.

Ama grew beautifully as an adult who is loved, cherished and has a strong family support of loving parents as a result of this kind gesture.

It all started with a dollar. 

Here at Rognice Foundation, $1 plants seeds of hope. It becomes part of a shared effort to help children like Ama among others, who have lost both parents, in becoming adults with a bright future. Together, we can create something big, as the saying goes; ''Little drops of water make a mighty ocean''. 

Let us do this together, let us give the orphans a chance to grow, dream and belong.

When Richmond decided to volunteer, he wasn't sure what he could really offer. He wasn't a social welfare officer, a doctor, a teacher or a counselor. He was simply a college student with a little free time and a big heart that keeps saying 'Just show up'.

So he did.

His first time was awkward.

He assisted in meetings, helped to distribute food, clothes, toys, etc. to the children in need. He encouraged, interacted, played and taught one child how to draw. The excitement in the child's eye lit Richmond up.

Looking from the back, he realized and said: 'This is why I volunteer'. Showing up to volunteer brought joy to him in as much as it brought joy to the orphans.

Volunteering doesn't always look like grand gestures. Sometimes it's just showing up. A few hours a month, a smile, a hug, a hand on one's shoulder.

Your time is precious, and when you give it to these orphans, not only would they receive hope for a brighter tommorrow but it is fulfilling.
